When installing tiles, it is important to align and space each one properly so your floor will have a uniform look. To do this, you need to use spacers. These are small plastic or wood items that allow you to create uniform joints and gaps between the tiles. You need to first choose the correct spacer size at the same time as buying your tiles. It is best to ask the dealer’s opinion regarding this matter.
Apply the cement and adhesive to one part of the floor. Lay down the first four tiles perpendicular to each other. Place the spacers on the corner of each tile then push the tiles together. The spacers will stop them from going further. Continue this procedure, setting up only four tiles at a time until the entire floor is covered. For floor edges, cut one side of the spacer so only three prongs remain. Place the flat end of the spacer against the floor’s edge. Finally, remove all the spacers when the cement and adhesive dries. This is an important step to prevent the grout from cracking.
